Hearts Everywhere RelateDaJohn

The 14-track album entitled “Hearts Everywhere Relate” explores love and relationships. The title deemed fitting for this project as all hearts can relate to these themes.

The album begins with song, “Lovely” that intertwines the Stevie Wonder classic. All the songs on this project are about love and relationships in one way or the other. This intro prepares the listener for what is to come:

Isn’t she lovely? Isn’t she wonderful?

Isn’t she precious? Less than one minute old

I never thought through love

We’d be making one as lovely as she

But isn’t she lovely made from love?

The use of autotune throughout the project may be a little overused but delivers melodies as typical DaJohn fashion like in interludes like, “On My Way,” and tracks like, “Wonder.” “Geeked” sounded similar to Desiigner’s  “Tiimmy Turner” with an eery vibe.

The interludes actually boosted the album and contributed to the sound and cohesion of the project compared to other projects where we usually find it takes aways and distracts the listener. The best one was “Voicemails.”

“Hearts Everywhere Relate” is cohesive to a fault. The sounds and tempos are interchangeable throughout which is why the last track, “Love DaJohn,” was so refreshing and unexpected to the ear. The hip-hop fan who is looking for traditional lyricism and cadence would be content with this selection.

This album is definitely female-focused and clearly capturing the female audience. DaJohn is talking to a woman on every track. This perfectly aligns with his release date in February – the month of love.

The collaboration between DaJohn and Eddie Heartthrob is a standout track that breaks up the pattern, a new voice is welcomed and fits well sonically with the album cadence and pace.

The two bonus tracks, “What To Do,” and “Hours After Midnight” freestyles are a perfect surprise ending to a well-rounded project. So we ask to the listeners: Can you relate?

Hearts Everywhere Relate is available on all streaming platforms.
