Who is Bnardartwork?

Bernard Rollins, most known by his handle bnardartwork, is a well known freelance illustrator who makes creations with a stroke. Though a Frederick based artist, Rollins’ artwork knows no bounds and travels near and far. Most recently, his image was used on Quavo’s chain of hip hop group Migos. Needles on the Playground: Frederick’s Response to the Heroin Epidemic

In 2013, I worked as a counselor in a residential dual recovery program for substance abuse and mental illness in Frederick. I remember heroin being steadily on the rise. So much so, that police officers were responding to calls more frequently — sometimes my coworkers and I made the call. Drug use had become an epidemic, gripping our community in its grasp and leaving devastation in its wake. Families were torn apart, lives were lost, and the cycle of addiction seemed unbreakable.
