Finally, a West African restaurant in Frederick. A Liberian one at that! Ha! Ya’ll, for the longest I have been saying Frederick needs an African restaurant and my prayers have been answered. Le-Mandingue African Restaurant & Grill recently opened a few months prior. Check out my review!
On a lovely Wednesday afternoon, I decided to pay a visit and see what this new culinary addition to Frederick had to offer. The restaurant is located on South street, behind the popular Rita’s stand. As I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the warm and familial atmosphere.
The menu was a delightful surprise, offering a variety of dishes from across West Africa. From the spicy Jollof rice to the savory Pepper Soup, each dish was a testament to the rich and diverse flavors of Liberian cuisine. I decided to try the Cassava Leaf, a traditional Liberian dish made with meat, fish, and cassava leaves simmered in palm oil. The dish was a flavorful explosion, with the unique taste of the cassava leaves perfectly complemented by the rich, savory meat and fish.
What truly set Le-Mandingue African Restaurant & Grill apart, however, was its commitment to authenticity. From the traditional Liberian recipes to the “old ma” in the back preparing your meal, every aspect of the restaurant was a celebration of Liberian culture. I’m thankful the owners chose this town to share their heritage with the people of Frederick.
Le-Mandingue African Restaurant & Grill is a welcome addition to Frederick’s dining scene. It offers a unique dining experience that is both delicious and culturally enriching. Whether you’re a fan of African cuisine or simply looking to try something new, I highly recommend paying a visit to this new restaurant.
