The Purge: Evolution Art Show

It’s more than an art show, it’s a re-introduction for the artist, Ms. Jeph. Watch her process.

A woman of many trades, Ms. Jeph, is a lash technician, entrepreneur, and cosmetologist, but the one she keeps returning to is: art. As a painter, Jessica Phillips, is hosting her first art exhibition “The Purge: Evolution.”

I paint mostly when I feel like I need to just…vibe out. Something to pour myself into. When I’m feeling creative, or blocked in other projects. Hit a j, put some music on, and just create.

Jeph’s earliest memory of drawing is when she was 3 years old. Once she enrolled in a school painting class in 2005, it began her journey. From a blank canvas now filled with colorful contributions, the artist hopes this new stage allows supporters to learn her as an artist — aside from everything else she is.

I feel like through the process of getting ready for this show, and creating for this show, I’ve grown as an artist. Learning to trust my instincts and just do what feels good to me.

This is her first show – Ms. Jeph has only painted commissions for customers; she has never created a collection of original artwork for display. Her inspirations for painting are black-centric.

I’m inspired by black people and black culture. The power of the black woman. I paint mostly women because we’re just beautiful and have an amazing ability to be so versatile with our beauty.

I just want everybody to have a good time and if they like what they see, buy some art.

Get tickets to Ms. Jeph ‘s art exhibition this Saturday.
